How long is the Dubrovnik to Hvar private boat transfer? Allow approximately 7.5–8 hours for this full-day private route with Korčula and swim stops. Timing depends on vessel, sea state and weather.
Searching for the best things to do in Hvar Croatia, the most scenic Hvar boat tour, or the top day trip from Dubrovnik? The Dubrovnik–Hvar private speedboat experience answers all three. It's consistently rated the most scenic route on the Dalmatian coast — faster, more personal, and infinitely more flexible than the public ferry.
Why transfer when you can adventure? The four-hour ferry becomes a private speedboat voyage — stopping at whichever islands catch your eye, swimming in coves you'll never find in a guidebook, and arriving on Hvar feeling like you've already lived the best day of your trip.
Your private skipper departs Dubrovnik Old Port and heads northwest along the Dalmatian coast. The direct route takes approximately 3.5 hours. But the private boat gives you options:
For travellers searching hvar boat tours or things to do in Hvar Croatia, a private speedboat from Dubrovnik stands apart from every other option. The ferry is affordable — but it's also slow, crowded, and delivers you at a terminal far from the old town. A private speedboat arrives directly at Hvar Old Port, with swim stops and optional Pakleni Islands detours on the way.
This is also the most popular choice among guests who ask: "What are the best things to do in Hvar?" The boat itself becomes part of the experience.
Hvar Town is often celebrated for its yacht-side glamour. Look past the Riva and you'll find one of the oldest continuously inhabited places on the Croatian coast. The Cathedral of St. Stephen fronts the largest town square in Croatia — an open stone piazza laid out in the 16th century under Venetian rule. Hvar's Renaissance theatre (1612) is one of the oldest public theatres in Europe, built inside the old Venetian Arsenal that once serviced war galleys. The Fortress (Španjola, 16th century) rewards the 15-minute climb with the finest panorama in the Adriatic: Hvar Town below, the Pakleni Islands scattered across the channel, the mainland mountains in the distance.
Our private luxury speedboats are comfortable and well-equipped for the 3–4 hour crossing: sun cushions, refreshment cooler, quality snorkelling gear. The boat is entirely private — no shared deck, no fixed timetable. Your skipper is a local professional with expertise across these waters, attentive and completely flexible to your preferences.
"We chose private over the ferry and it was the best travel decision of our trip. Our skipper stopped for a 45-minute swim at the most beautiful cove I've ever been in, and we still arrived in Hvar in time for lunch. Perfect service."
"Professional crew, beautiful boat, and a complete willingness to adapt the route. We asked to stop at Korčula for an hour — done. This is how you travel between Croatian islands."
Guests who make this journey by private boat consistently say the same thing: the transfer was the highlight, not the destination. A professional crew focused entirely on your group, beautiful water, the freedom to stop anywhere — this is Croatia's most scenic route done properly.
Arriving by private speedboat directly at Hvar Old Port gives you more time for the best Hvar attractions:
Among all things to do in Hvar Croatia, the combination of Pakleni Islands by boat + Fortica fortress on foot + Old Town square consistently rates as the most complete half-day.

Great time
We had an amazing time with Frano! He tailored the trip to what we wanted (more relaxed, hanging at the boat and swimming) and took us to amazing local spots including a water front lunch. It was the highlight of our time in Dubrovnik! Thank you Frano!

Beautiful day out on the water!
We had a fantastic day on the boat with Frano during our transfer from Hvar to Dubrovnik. Frano designed a lovely itinerary and took care of all transportation from pick up at our hotel in Hvar to drop off in Dubrovnik. He arranged for a guide to meet us during our stop in Korcula where we enjoyed learning the history of this island. We had a beautiful stop to swim and then on to a fantastic lunch and more swimming. This was truly one of the highlights of our trip. Thank you Frano, we will be back and hope to see you again soon!

Private transfer to Hvar
Excellent service! Frano was extremely helpful and considerate of our needs. Our skipper was excellent as well. Frano went an extra step to retrieve a lost camera for us and send it to me via ferry. Would definitely recommend.

Best boat experience!
This was the perfect way for us to get from Hvar back to Dubrovnik! We got to stop at several islands along the way down and get out and explore, go to secret swimming spots and Frano was great at letting us choose what worked best for us. The whole experience was worth it and would recommend this over a car ride or ferry for sure!!

Amazing day with a great captain & team - Yacht Transfer from Hvar to Dubrovnik!
This was one of our favorite days in Croatia! Rather than wasting a full day of our trip to get from Hvar to Dubrovnik, we chartered a yacht - Prestige 400 - for me & my 6 friends! It was an amazing way to see more islands and not spend a whole day taking ferries from Hvar - Split and flying from Split to Dubrovnik. Not only was our captain Pero, and his team amazing! But we stopped at some magical places that we never would have seen! This included Korcula, Moro Stupe Beach (on Orebic), and a sunset swim in the middle of the Adriatic Sea! I highly recommend this company for any boat excursion and was thrilled to have had the opportunity to spend a beautiful day in Croatia on this Yacht!

Brilliant
Recently had a private transfer to Hvar and everything from the booking process, the continued communications, and the transfer itself were brilliant. Could not have asked for any more and to top it off the crew on our boat were first class with nothing too much of a problem. Would definitely recommend it very highly.

This is a sampe itinerary starting from Dubrovnik. Please note that this service can be arranged also from Hvar to Dubrovnik.
Note: This itinerary is a suggestion and can be fully customized to your group's desires and the prevailing weather conditions. Discuss your preferences with the boat charter company in advance to create the perfect itinerary for your Dubrovnik to Hvar luxury boat transfer.
Your driver picks you up from your hotel and transfers you to the departure port — Old Town City Port (Stara gradska luka) or Gruž Port depending on your vessel and hotel. Board your private boat and get settled: sun cushions, refreshment cooler, and snorkelling gear are all ready aboard. Departure time is flexible, typically between 08:30 and 09:00 AM. The crew will run through the day's route options before casting off.
Gruz Port, Dubrovnik
Embarkation at Gruž Port
Private-yacht embarkation point in Dubrovnik for a seamless Adriatic departure with Tendo-style service.
Alternative departure point for larger vessels or guests on the western side of Dubrovnik.
Old Town City Port
Embarkation at Old Town City Port
Historic City Harbour beneath the Old Town walls.
Primary departure point for guests staying in or near the Old Town.
Approximately 30–40 minutes north-west of Dubrovnik, near Koločep island, your skipper drops anchor at Markuleti Bay — a sheltered cove with calm, crystal-clear water and a quieter atmosphere than the busier Elaphiti village stops. Cool off in the sea, enjoy the first drinks from the cooler, and settle into the Adriatic pace. This is the ideal introduction to the Dalmatian coast at its most unspoiled.
Swim stop in a sheltered bay
Sheltered Adriatic bay with a quieter, more private swim feel than the busier headline stops around Dubrovnik.
First swim stop of the day. Calm, clear water. Ideal for snorkelling.
Korčula Old Town is one of the Adriatic's most rewarding island stops — a compact medieval walled city with cathedral, Marco Polo heritage, and a lively waterfront market. Your skipper docks and gives the group time to walk the stone streets, visit the Cathedral of St. Mark, and browse the market stalls.
Lunch in Korčula (recommended): Ask your skipper for a current recommendation — waterfront konobas such as Konoba Maslina or Gradski Podrum are popular choices, or the skipper will know the best spot for the season.
Šćedro Island (time-permitting): If the Korčula stop wraps up within about an hour, your skipper can route via Šćedro — a quiet, pine-shaded island with turquoise lagoons just 45 minutes from Hvar. Šćedro is added when time and conditions allow, so let the skipper know early in the day if it is a priority.
Scedro Island, Adriatic Sea
Optional swim & lunch stop at Šćedro Island
Scedro Island
Time-permitting only — if Korčula stop wraps up within ~1 hour and suggested by your captain because of afternoon wind forecast. Quiet pine-shaded lagoons, 45 min from Hvar.
Korcula Old Town, Korcula
Explore Korčula Old Town & optional lunch
Korčula Old Town
Dock in Korčula, walk the medieval streets, Cathedral of St. Mark, Marco Polo heritage.
Your private boat docks directly at Hvar Old Port — arriving straight on the Riva, the main harbourfront promenade. From the pier you are steps from the 16th-century Fortica fortress above town, the largest Renaissance square in Croatia, and the old Venetian Arsenal with Europe's oldest public theatre (1612). The crew assists with luggage and can recommend the best restaurants, bars, and activities based on your group's interests.
Hvar Old Town, Hvar
Arrive Hvar Old Port — disembark at the Riva
Hvar Old Town
Direct docking at Hvar Old Port. Fortica fortress, Renaissance square, and Arsenal theatre all within walking distance.
Allow approximately 7.5–8 hours for the listed full-day private boat transfer from Dubrovnik to Hvar, including planned Korčula and swim stops. Typical departure 08:30 from Dubrovnik with arrival at Hvar Old Port around 16:00–16:30. Actual timing depends on vessel, route, sea state and weather.
For most travellers it is not a comparison — it is a completely different experience. The car ferry takes 3–4 hours and docks at Stari Grad harbour, requiring a further 20-minute bus to Hvar Town. A private transfer by boat departs Dubrovnik from your hotel door at 08:30, passes the Elafiti Islands, swims at Marculeti Bay, stops in Korčula Old Town for lunch, anchors at Šćedro for a final swim, and delivers you directly to Hvar Old Port by late afternoon. The price is per boat, so when divided across a group — and factoring in everything included — it is often the more practical choice.
The full itinerary includes: the Elafiti Islands passage out of Dubrovnik, a swim stop at Marculeti Bay (with snorkelling gear and GoPro Hero on deck, and a possible Blue Cave visit if conditions allow), free time in Korčula Old Town for lunch or an optional private guided tour, and a swim at Šćedro Island before the final run to Hvar. All stops are mandatory but timing at each destination is subject to sea conditions on the day. Depending on the season and conditions, lunch can be organised on Korčula or at Šćedro — your skipper will advise.
Directly at Hvar Old Port (the riva), a two-minute walk from the main town square, the Fortica fortress trail, and water-taxi connections to the Pakleni Islands. Drop-off at your Hvar hotel is included. This is a major advantage over the standard ferry, which docks at Stari Grad harbour and requires a further bus transfer to Hvar Town.
The price is per boat (not per person) and varies by vessel size and fuel consumption. It covers: hotel pickup in Dubrovnik and drop-off in Hvar Town; the boat with an English-speaking professional skipper and crew; fuel surcharge; swim stops at Marculeti Bay, Moro Beach (Stupe) and Šćedro Island; free time in Korčula Old Town with an optional private English-speaking guided tour; snacks and drinks throughout the day; snorkelling gear and a GoPro Hero underwater camera; and public liability insurance and VAT. There are no hidden extras.
Yes. Many guests travel from Dubrovnik to Hvar by private boat transfer and return by public catamaran or ferry. We can also arrange a return private boat transfer, or coordinate onward travel from Hvar to Split or other destinations — just let us know your plans at the time of enquiry.
The distance is the honest answer: Dubrovnik to Hvar is approximately 100 nautical miles — one of the longest private sea-transfer routes on the Croatian coast. That distance means significant fuel consumption regardless of which vessel you choose; a speedboat burns considerably more per hour than a smaller day-charter boat. The crew — skipper and at least one deckhand — works a full operational day: preparation in Dubrovnik before departure, a full-day transfer of roughly 7.5–8 hours with guests on board (including the Korčula stop), and the return passage to Dubrovnik the same evening. The vessel itself absorbs considerable wear over a route of this length, and marine maintenance costs are proportional to distance. Add the logistics behind the service — route planning, harbour coordination in Korčula, swim stop timing, weather contingency — and you have an operation that requires genuine expertise to execute well. For groups of 6–12 guests the per-person cost often compares favourably to other forms of private travel. For smaller groups or solo travellers, the public catamaran is a practical alternative. We will always give you an honest recommendation based on your group size and budget.
Weather is actively monitored throughout the entire route — not just at departure, but at every stage of the crossing. At 100 nautical miles, this is one of the longest private transfers on the Dalmatian coast, and conditions can change significantly between Dubrovnik, the Pelješac channel, Korčula, and the outer southern islands. The most important factor is the afternoon maestral: the prevailing northwesterly wind that builds on the open Adriatic from early afternoon, typically strengthening between 13:00 and 16:00. The 08:30 departure is set so the most exposed open-water sections are sailed in the calmer morning hours, with the Korčula stop providing a natural break at midday and Hvar reached by 16:00–16:30 before conditions worsen on the final leg. Itinerary timing at each stop is subject to conditions on the day — the skipper will advise on any adjustments. For groups of 1–2 guests a modern speedboat of at least 9 metres / 30 feet is the right vessel — for example the Jeanneau Cap Camarat 9 WA, which handles open-channel conditions with stability and comfort. For 3 or more guests we recommend stepping up to a motor yacht or luxury yacht: the Jeanneau Prestige 400 Fly, Fairline Phantom 40, Sealine T51 or Ferretti 591 offer significantly more deck space, a smoother ride in a chop, and full shelter for guests who prefer to stay out of the wind. We will always advise the most suitable vessel for your group size, travel date and expected conditions.
The listed duration is for the full-day itinerary, so vessel, route, sea state, weather and operational constraints can affect timing and whether stops are suitable. The skipper confirms any necessary adjustments on the day. For a different transfer format, ask us to confirm the feasible itinerary for your date and group.
The places you visit depend on the specific private boat tour, yacht route, weather conditions and the time available on the water. Each product page lists its own suggested itinerary and main highlights.
For Dubrovnik private boat and yacht experiences, routes may include islands, secluded bays, swimming stops, coastal towns, caves, Boka Bay, Montenegro coastline or other points of interest depending on the selected tour. Final routing is agreed before departure and may be adjusted by the captain for safety and sea conditions.
This itinerary is designed for cruise passengers who need smooth port logistics, efficient Old Town highlights, and a reliable return-to-ship buffer.
Yes. Most private boat tours and yacht experiences can be customized within the confirmed duration of the tour. You can usually adjust the balance between sightseeing, panorama cruising, swimming, lunch, time ashore and direct transfer time.
The final route always depends on yacht availability, weather, sea conditions, port rules and, for cross-border routes such as Dubrovnik to Montenegro, border formalities.
The offer includes a private yacht, professional skipper, fuel surcharge, snorkeling equipment, and a curated 4-hour route with cave and swim stops.
Private boat tours from Dubrovnik can be arranged in different versions depending on the selected product, yacht or speedboat class, destination, duration and preferred pace. Some routes are focused on swimming and hidden bays, others on coastal sightseeing, island hopping, lunch stops, transfers or cross-border yacht routes such as Dubrovnik to Montenegro.
Combinations are possible when they fit safely within the confirmed tour duration. The final plan is agreed before departure and may be adjusted according to weather, sea conditions, port rules and captain recommendation.

Yes. The yacht option is especially comfortable for families thanks to additional space, easier movement onboard, and smoother cruising.
At first, the difference is in the size of the boat, which represents how many people feel comfortable on such a boat to enjoy the sea. Then, if you are not already familiar, the ships have different equipment and designs.
Most medium-class boats are with outboard motors up to 6.5 meters long. Then come high-class boats with inboard engines, which is not necessarily the case. The biggest difference between medium and high-class boats is in the equipment and design. The high-class speedboat is mostly sporty and recommended for up to 4 people, while the medium class is recommended for 2 people.
Executive boats are 8-9 meters in size, newer years with outboard or inboard engines, but all have toilets. In the Executive class of boats, we are talking about luxury speedboats of recent years with a lot of equipment and an attractive appearance.
Motor yachts are 9 - 11 meters long, with a saloon, flybridge, kitchen, and stern for swimming. Executive motor yachts are 11 - 14 meters long, but more recently built.
Luxury yachts are a story by themselves, this is really about great luxury for people who demand such a service.
If you are not sure what kind of boat you want, consider that the captain of the boat is responsible for providing you with the best possible service. All our captains are professionals and will do everything for you to have a great time.
It is planned as a compact highlight route suitable for common cruise windows, with exact duration confirmed against your docking schedule.
Yes, shade is a must when enjoying Dubrovnik waters!
The yacht tour prioritizes comfort and space for larger groups, while the speedboat tour is faster, more agile, and typically better value for smaller parties.
Our team adapts pickup/route timing around your updated schedule whenever operationally possible.
Safety comes first. If sea conditions are unsuitable, we offer route adjustment, rescheduling, or available alternatives based on your schedule.

In April / October / November boat tours really depends on the water conditions. In case the tour can't be done due to weather conditions we will always either issue a full refund or try to postpone the tour to the next day.
The price depends on the selected route, tour duration, boat or yacht class, group size, season, fuel requirements and any optional services such as lunch, transfers, guides or special arrangements.
Shorter Dubrovnik boat tours usually have a different price structure than full-day private yacht routes or cross-border experiences such as Dubrovnik to Montenegro. For tailor-made routes, we confirm the final price in the personalized offer before booking.
Both options are possible on most private boat and yacht tours. Some guests prefer a relaxed panorama cruise with swimming stops, while others want time ashore for sightseeing, lunch or a short walk in a coastal town.
Stops ashore depend on the selected destination, local docking options, weather, sea conditions and the total tour duration. The captain and operations team will help shape a realistic route for the time available.
All our boat tours are private, without joined travellers. We can accommodate the number of guests permitted by the specific boat's licence, so please tell us your group size and we will recommend the best option.
Please contact us with your preferences and group details. We can offer everything from sleek speedboats for cave hopping to large motor yachts with shaded cabins and spacious lounge decks, and we will help match you with the right boat.
If you are celebrating a special occasion, please let us know in advance. We can help arrange special touches on board such as balloons, candles, drinks, and other decorations to make the experience more personal.
